Sol Duc Falls

Taken on a hike in the Sol Duc area of Olympic National Park whil on an extended trip there in 2015. The Sol Duc area is on the north end of the park west of the city of Port Angeles. There are hot springs, several campgrounds, another falls, some virgin forest and a place to watch the salmon along the Sol Duc Road.

The photo is from Lillian Ridge along the trail to Grand Lake in Olympic National Park. The trailhead is at the end of the Obstruction Point Road, a narrow gravel road that is usually note snow free until July. The flowers are a Potentilla (Cinquefoil) species. This area is one of our favorite places in Olympic National Park.

Taken while hiking at Blue Mountain in Olympic National Park. Blue Mountain is at the end of the Deer Park Road, a narrow gravel road on the north side of the park. The flowers are Milk Vetch.
Hurricane Ridge

The Hurricane Ridge Road is one of the most popular areas of Olympic National Park. It ends at a visitors' center with great views of the Olympic Mountains to the west. This photo was taken along the road at one of the viewpoints.
Lake Crescent

Lake Crescent is in Olympic National Park. The lake is twelve miles (20 km) long, 596 feet (182 m) deep and is west of Port Angeles on the northern end of the Olympic Peninsula. It is a great place for hiking and a favorite spot of ours for orchid hunting.

Another couple of phone photos, this one taken in upper Michigan near Grand Traverse Bay. We were on a wine tasting and cider tasting tour with our son and daughter-in-law on the Leelanau Peninsula at Suttons Bay Ciders when my wife took this with my phone.

We took the ferry from Keystone on Whidbey Island to Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula in order to get to Olympic National Park and Hurricane Ridge. This photo was taken early in the morning from the ferry. The Olympics can be seen in the background.

Photographed on the Lillian Ridge Trail. This trail runs from the end of the Obstruction Point Road, a long gravel road that runs southeast from Hurricane Ridge into some of the most beautiful areas of the Olympics.
