This is a Columbian Black-tailed Deer, Odocoileus hemionus columbianus, a subspecies of the Mule Deer that is found from California up into British Columbia. It is smaller than its cousin, the White-tailed Deer. This young buck was photographed on Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park by my wife.
