Taken on a glacier and wildlife cruise out of Seward, Alaska. This is Holgate Glacier in Aialik Bay, part of the Kenai Fjords National Park.

This is, if I remember correctly, Holgate Glacier in Aialik Bay, Alaska. We had taken a glacier and wildlife cruise out of Seward and the photo was taken then. The glacier is in Kenai Fjords National Park. I've been away and haven't had time or opportunity to post anything.

While exploring the Kenai Peninsula south of Anchorage we went on a wildlife and glacier cruise which took us to Aialik Bay and Holgate Glacier. Holgate Glacier is part of the Harding Icefields which are part of the Kenai Fjords national Park. This is the top of the glacier taken from the boat.

I am not actually sure whether this is part of Holgate Glacier or not. If so it was another arm of the glacier, part of the Harding Icefields on the Kenai Peninsula and in Aialik Bay west of Seward. We had been disappointed by the fact that our ferry trip was cut short and that we missed the part of the trip that took us through some of bays on the south coast of Alaska where there are many glaciers and decided we would take a day cruise out of Seward instead. This was the glacier we visited though it no longer reaches the sea. The day, as is evident from the photo was rather dull but gave us the opportunity not only to visit several glaciers but to see a lot of whales and other wildlife, including Humpbacks, Orcas, Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Puffins, an Albatross, and many other sea birds.
