This photo was taken in Mount Robson Provincial Park in British Columbia. Red Columbine is one of the most beautiful wildflowers of the western mountains and it was at the peak of its bloom season when we were in Robson.

The foliage is of the Pacific Bleeding Heart, Dicentra formosa, but the photo was taken for the water drops on the edges of the foliage. We did not find a lot of wildflowers in bloom at Mount Hood but these were just starting (see inset for flowers).

This is the Sitka Columbina, Aquilegia formosa, very similar to the eastern Red Columbine, Aquilegia canadensis. It is a wildflower we see often but is never without charm. This one was photographed by my wife on the Weldon Wagon trail in the Columbia River gorge.

The Western Red Columbine, Aquilegia formosa, is a common wildflower, but no less beautiful for that. These were photographed along the Seward Highway near Summit Lakes.

A rather common native wildflower but always beautiful, this example of the Sitka Columbine, Aquilegia formosa, was photographed high in the Siskiyou Mountains of California on a recent trip there. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2012/08/orchid-hunt...

After climbing the Old Mount Si trail we also hiked the Little Si trail, much shorter and much less steep. We found these along that trail in the sunnier areas, one of our distinctive spring wildflowers. Their botanical name is Dicentra formosa. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2013/05/mount-si.html
