These are the Middle Falls at Wallace Falls State Park. They are the tallest of nine falls and cascades at 265 feet and are on the North Fork of the Wallace River near Gold Bar, Washington. The three main falls are the Upper, Middle and Lower Falls. The others are unnamed. To see the falls some hiking is required, not overly strenuous, but from two to three miles each way. This is around two miles from the trailhead.

This new picture shows the base of the falls where the water has hollowed out a a secluded basin from which the water flows away over a series of cascades. Wallace Falls State Park is off State Highway 2 on the west side of the Cascades near the town of Gold Bar.

Salmonberry Blossom

On our recent excursion to Wallace Falls State Park, nearly the only things in bloom were the Salmonberry bushes. I posted another picture of these blossoms (see below), but the blossoms are more or less pendant and this is how they are usually seen. For more information on the fruit of these plants please see the second photo.

Cascades above the Lower Falls on the Wallace Rive…

I thought I would post one more photo from our hike in Wallace Falls State Park and decided to post a picture of the beautiful cascades above the lower falls. The Lower Falls themselves are the most difficult of the falls on the Wallace River to photograph because the viewpoint looks almost straight down on them, and I never got a decent picture of them. The photos below are of the Middle Falls and of the cascades above them.
