This was taken from Stanley Park and looks north to the part of the harbor that is across the channel from Stanley Park. I believe the yellow is sulfur that is waiting to be shipped or has been unloaded. This will probably be my last shot from Stanley Park, though I do have some photos of birds I would like to post.

Another early morning shot from Stanley Park, Vancouver. Sunshine, autumn color, mist, the waterfront, a beautiful city - what more could one ask.

Taken on an autumn morning in Stanley Park and in Vancouver, a very memorable day of mist, autumn color, sunshine and a sense of timelessness.

This was taken a year ago on a an overnight excursion to Vancouver. We spent most of one day in Stanley Park and this was taken in the morning looking across the marina to downtown Vancouver. I thought it an appropriate shot for this time of the year with the beautiful autumn color, though I'm not sure I like the shot. It seems just a bit too busy to me.

Another shot taken in Stanley Park, Vancouver, along the waterfront. Can't really decide whether the picture is any good, but I liked the tones and reflections with the waterfowl swimming in them.

Last October I had a speaking engagement with the Vancouver Orchid Society and my wife and I spent a day in Stanley Park. We could not have asked for a better day. Not only were the autumn colors at their peak but the day was perfect with periods of sunshine alternating with times when the mist came rolling in from the sea. This shot was taken as we walked along the waterfront during one of those misty periods.

Olympic Cauldron at Night

Olympic Flame at Night

The pillars of the Olympic cauldron are even more beautiful by night than by day. The arms appear to be lit from within and the contrast of blue and yellow light is impressive. In this shot the Olympic rings in the harbor can just be see at the base of the legs. The authorities have now moved the fence closer, have cut out sections of the fence and replaced them with plexiglass panels and have opened the viewing deck to visitors making it much easier to take pictures of the cauldron.

In Explore February 24, 2010, #71. Thanks to Mario Hernandez for letting me know. These are on a barge across from the Olympic flame and the waterfront. It was difficult to find a good place from which to get a photo and so this shot is severely cropped.

Lotus Moon

This is the Art Science Museum on the Singapore waterfront. The design of the building is inspired by the lotus flower. This picture was taken on an evening walk along the waterfront when the moon was rising. The photo was handheld (actually the camera was braced on a handrail) since we had been to dinner with friends and I did not have a tripod with me. It was shot at ISO4000, and is a bit grainy, but that was the only way to get the shot.

Waterfront

Taken from Stanley Park looking across to the docks on the Vancouver waterfront. I have no idea what the yellow material is that they are loading, though I think someone suggested it was sulphur. Liked the colors in this shot and thought I'd post it for that reason.
