On a recent trip to see our family members west of the Cascades we traveled by way of Highway 2 and Highway 20. The day was largely overcast but we did stop for some photos near Grand Coulee Dam. This was sunrise over Lake Roosevelt, the reservoir behind the dam. Grand Coulee Dam is one of the dams on the Columbia River.

This is one of my wife's photos and it was taken along Highway 2 between Waterville and Coulee City, Washington, late in the afternoon.

Taken along Highway 2 in eastern Washington on the Columbia Plateau, an area still heavily farmed, but where most of the smaller farms have long ago been abandoned. We've stopped before to photograph this old house and another picture, taken in the spring is posted below. The house is gradually deteriorating and will, I suppose, eventually be destroyed.

Typical drier, sparsely populated farmland of the east-central part of the state of Washington - very different from the rainy, forested and mountainous western part of the state.

Taken in the town of Creston, a near ghost-town in eastern Washington. The building appears to have been a restaurant at one time but has long been abandoned, like nearly everything else in the town. We were on our way home from Spokane following Highway 2 when we stopped here.
