The Brownie or Clustered Lady's Slipper is one of our rarest orchids here in the Pacific Northwest. It is also much smaller and much less showy than the other Lady's Slippers and easily goes unnoticed. The picture I posted earlier of this species was of a very pale form. This is one of the darker forms, sometimes referred to as forma purpureum. The color forms shade into each other and are usually found growing together.
