RHH's photos with the keyword: white dome geyser

Not far north of Midway Geyser Basin is a narrow one-way road, Firehole Lake Drive. Along that road are several important geothermal features including this geyser, White Dome Geyser. On another note, we are heading out for Texas in a few hours and my presence here will be sporadic and limited with no presence the next few days as far as I can see.

White Dome Geyser is along the Firehole Lake Drive in Yellowstone National Park, and while we did not see it erupt on this occasion we've seen it do so on other occasions (see insets).

This geyser was just finishing erupting as we drove up. It would have been nice if someone could have stood nearby to give a sense of scale, but that is forbidden and dangerous. The sinter cone of this geyser is 15-20 feet high and is built of the same dissolved limestone as the mound in the previous picture, only here is is deposited by hot water and steam erupting up through the ground.
