Taken on a 2015 trip to Alaska via the Alaska Ferry. The photo was taken the evening of the second day after leaving Juneau. The inset shows our tent on the deck of the ferry, our home for four days.

When we took the ferry to Alaska in 2015 we camped on the deck of the ferry. This was our home for four days.

This was taken on the third evening of our ferry trip to Alaska as we traveled from Ketchikan to Juneau. Not only was the sunset amazing but the tug and barge were in a perfect position from the ferry so that the light of the sun was highlighting them.

Taken as we were leaving Ketchikan on our way to Juneau. Every sunset we had was wonderful, but I think this was the best of them all.

Taken from the ferry as we sailed (six hours late) from Ketchikan to Juneau. One of the joys of taking the ferry was the opportunity to watch the sunrises and sunsets.

We are back home from our Alaska trip and though I've only begun to sort through about three thousand photos, I thought I'd post one of the earlier shots. This was taken as we left on the Alaska Ferry from Ketchikan for Juneau. It was taken at about 10:00 at night, the sun not yet set. Our ferry trip was a bit of a disaster. We were four hours late out of Bellingham, six out of Ketchikan and eight out of Juneau and we sailed directly from Juneau to Whittier missing several stops and having the additional trip to Kodiak by ferry cancelled, all due to mechanical problems. We had to make other arrangements but did enjoy the ferry ride, at least the part of it we experienced and had a very wonderful time touring southeastern Alaska. We saw so much beautiful scenery and so much wildlife! It is, however, good to be home again, too, though we both want to go back.
