The Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge west of Portland is a land of waterfalls and Old Highway 30 follows the waterfall route. When we were there recently we stopped at only two of the falls, this one and Multnomah Falls. The crowds were more than we wanted to deal with and so we went on to the Oregon coast after only a few hours.

Horsetails Falls (there are many others) is found in Thompson Pass between Glennallen and Valdez, Alaska. The weather on the way to Valdez was the worst of the whole trip. We had to take these pictures from inside the car. It was raining so hard that we could not keep our lenses dry. As to other falls with the same name, there is another Horsetail Falls near Whittier, Alaska, one in the Columbia River gorge west of Portland and another In Yosemite National Park. There are also falls with that name in the Ozarks and near Tahoe.

Along Old Highway 30 west of Portland in the Columbia River gorge are a series of beautiful waterfalls. Multnomah Falls are the highest, best known and most popular or them all, but the other falls are equally beautiful in their own way. These falls are our favorite after Multnomah and are certainly well named. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2013/08/columbia-river-gorge.html
