Another tree often found growing with the Redwoods is Big Leaf Maple, one of the iconic trees of the Pacific Northwest. This Big Leaf Maple foliage was photographed along the trail to Stout Grove in Jedediah Smith State Park.

Not much grows in the oldest Redwood graves but ferns, often the Sword Fern shown here. This was photographed along the trail to Stout Grove in Jedediah Smith State Park.

These are the needles of a Redwood. I would have expected such huge trees to have large needles and cones in proportion to the size of the tree, but both are tiny. Most of the foliage is far out of reach as well, but this was photographed on a younger tree in the Simpson-Reed Grove in jedediah Smith State Park.
