Leaving Jedediah Smith State Park and the Redwoods we headed northeast up the Redwoods Highway and along the south fork of the Smith River to the California and Oregon border, stopping briefly at a small bog where Cobra Lilies were growing. They, however, were nearly finished and we took few photos of them. This Leopard Lily was photographed there before we traveled on. Near the state border but still in California we headed up a forest service road where we spent most of the day looking for Cobra Lilies and Orchids.

I posted a picture of this wildflower earlier, but thought I'd post one more with a Crab Spider lurking on the back of the flower. The photo was taken in the Siskiyou Mountains of southern Oregon and the flower is Lilium pardalinum ssp. vollmeri, also known as the Leopard Lily. The species of the Spider I do not know. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2012/08/orchid-hunting-in-siskiyous.html

Also known as the Leopard Lily, this beautiful wildflower was photographed in the Siskiyou Mountains of southern Oregon. Its botanical name is Lilium pardalinum subsp. vollmeri. We saw and photographed it on a trip to Oregon and California last summer. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2012/08/orchid-hunting-in-siskiyous.html
