This tiny little orchid species is from Papua New Guinea and is known in our house as the "Candy Corn Orchid" for its resemblance to the little orange and yellow corn-kernel-shaped candies. It blooms prolifically in the winter and though the flowers are not that long-lived puts on a good show. These flowers are less than 1cm, about a quarter of an inch, and the plant becomes a thick mat of little stubby growths with a fan of fat propeller-like leaves. This is the second in my 100 photos for 2014 project.
