Was out snowshoeing this morning, and left early, so I didn't get a chance to post anything. This is a small hybrid orchid, a combination of three different genera and it is my eighth post in the 100x 2014 project.

This flower has just opened and is much darker in color than the flowers that have been open for some time. The color fades a bit after the flower is mature. Interestingly, the temperature makes a difference in flower color as well. The blooms that open in warmer temperatures are much lighter in color than those that open in cooler temps.

In Explore October 11, 2009, #186. This miniature jewel is a cross of Sc. Beaufort and Sc. Bright Angel. It blooms regularly on each new growth and is seldom out of bloom. The flowers last for months, and are consistently well-shaped. I was trying to figure out some of the settings on my camera and used it as a model when I took this picture.
