The Ozette Coralroot is a recently discovered variety of the Spotted Coralroot, Corallorhiza maculata var. ozettensis. It was discovered on the Olympic Peninsula but since has been found elsewhere, on Whidbey Island, Vancouver Island, mainland British Columbia and most recently in northern California. These were photographed on Whidbey Island. Like all the other Coralroots it is leafless and without chlorophyll and mycotrophic. We are traveling, thus the lack of posts and delay in commenting. We are in Edmonton visiting our daughter and her family including a new granddaughter, Ashlynn, born last week. We also had the opportunity to do some orchid hunting and animal watching on the way up and I'll be going out later in the week to do some bog crawling in search of several rare native orchids. The new granddaughter is the star of the trip, however. nativeorchidsofthepacificnorthwest.blogspot.ca/2013/06/ninth-week-of-native-orchid-season.html
