When we went to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan we not only went for the scenery but also for the autumn colors, which, though not at their peak were still wonderful. This Red Maple was photographed near Log Slide Overlook in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

When in Michigan's Upper Peninsula recently we enjoyed the autumn colors even though they were not at their peak.

I believe that these galls are made by an aphid, but perhaps there is someone who knows better. This photo was taken by my seventeen year old son on one of our photo treks.

If the weather is nice we often go for an afternoon walk, and did so last Saturday. Many of the trees were still holding their leaves and the autumns colors were amazing. These maples, however, really caught our attention with their unusual colors.
