As we hiked across the scree slope from which the previous photos were taken, Mist Glacier came into view on the lower slopes of Mount Robson. Mount Robson has three glaciers, Mist, Berg and Robson.

Hiking across the floodplain below Berg Lake, this was the view of Mount Robson and Mist Glacier. Mist Glacier is interesting in that it has its own lake, hidden behind the moraine in the photo. The moraine also blocks any view of the lower part of the glacier

Hiking In Mount Robson Provincial Park we had come 8 km from our previous nights campground at Whitehorn when this photo was taken. We had left Emperor Hill and Emperor Falls behind and were following the Robson River towards the scree slope in the distance (the insets are all taken from that slope) where the trail is just visible. Only the lower slopes of Mount Robson are visible on the far right, but Rearguard Mountain and Mist Glacier are coming into view, a reminder of the progress we were making toward our destination, still 5 km further on across the Robson River floodplain and around Berg Lake.

Taken on a 2009 backpacking trip in Mount Robson Provincial Park, this photo shows Mount Robson on a cloudless day, with Berg Lake below and the two glaciers that feed the lake, Berg Glacier curving down on the left and Mist Glacier on the far right of the picture with its glacial moraines. The photo was taken from the Mumm Basin trail.

The last few kilometers of our hike into the Berg Lake area we ran into a snowstorm and our first view of the lake and glaciers was through a near white-out. The snow did not last very long and what fell was soon melted, but was a reminder of the fact that we were in the northern mountains.

On the last day of our stay at Berg Lake we hiked to the west of Berg Lake, up and across the ridge that brought us to Hargreaves Lake and Glacier. The views of Mount Robson and Berg Lake were superb and the trail, though still snow-covered in places was a garden of wildflowers. All in all a fitting end to a wonderful trip.
