Sand Island is a recreation area under the authority of the Bureau of Land Management. We stopped there to see the Native American petroglyphs on the bluffs above the San Juan River. We walked the trail shown in the photo and found the petroglyphs in various areas along the bluffs, very clear and impressive, some of them shown in the inset photo.

While in Arches and Canyonlands we met a man who suggested stopping to see the petroglyphs at Sand Island, Utah. We did stop on our way south and walked along the San Juan River and found the petroglyphs there, some of them shown in the photo. The petroglyphs are found on the bluffs above the river over a nearly 100 meter area and are very clear and impressive.
Statue at Beebe Springs Natural Area

This was taken at Beebe Spring Natural Area near Chelan Falls, Washington. Beebe Springs is an area along the Columbia River where native Americans used to dig Camas bulbs. This and several other statues of women digging bulbs are among the features of area, though it is also a good place for bird-watching and wildflowers. We were in the area in August on Native Orchid Society excursion, but the area was very smoky from the wildfires burning in the area.
My apologies for the delay in responding to comments. We are traveling to eastern Washington (sitting in a coffee shop now) and spent most of the day hiking in the North Cascades. We hiked the Heather and Maple Pass loop off the North Cascades Highway, 8.5 miles and 2000 feet of elevation gain, but a fabulous sunny day with lots of autumn color, though the larches were only just beginning to change.
