These are the hips of our local native rose. I haven't tried to identify the species of rose and probably should, but that requires taking a book along on one of our walks, something I haven't thought to do. The insets are both of rose hips that have been touched with frost.

With a relatively mild winter and temperatures around freezing we've had a lot of frost, hoarfrost and ice this winter and these photos were taken on our daily walks near our home. The needles are of a Ponderosa Pine, the preponderant species in our area.

These frozen water drops are on the needles of a Ponderosa Pine. The needles aften havve water drops on them in wet weather and these froze when the temperature dropped at night.

These frozen water drops are on a fence. Didn't realize until I saw them on the computer that there was frost on the drops and that they were still producing refractions though frozen.
