When we took the ferry to Alaska in 2015 we camped on the deck of the ferry. This was our home for four days.

Taking the Alaska Ferry from Bellingham to Whittier was not only adventure but a wonderful photo opportunity. There were sunsets and sunrises, whales, lighthouses and beautiful scenery, a photographer's dream, here the Guard Island Lighthouse near Ketchikan at sunset..

I do not remember where this was but I think somewhere along the Canadian coast as we sailed on the Alaska Ferry from Washington to Anchorage.

On our 2015 trip to Alaska we took the Alaska Ferry from Bellingham to Whittier via the inner passage, camping on the deck of the ferry. One of the best parts of that ferry trip was watching the sunrise and sunsets, this one of them.

This was the view from the ferry as we travelled from Bellingham to Whittier Alaska. The sunrises and sunsets were especially spectacular, this taken near Ketchikan on the second evening of our trip.

Taken on a 2015 trip to Alaska, there are several reasons for posting this. For one thing, our son and daughter-in-law are leaving soon for a family trip to Alaska and for another, it is our 46th wedding anniversary today and our trip to Alaska was in celebration of our 40th anniversary. We took the Alaska ferry from Bellingham to Whittier and spent another two weeks touring that part of Alaska. Now we are celebrating another six years, though we have no immediate plans for a trip like our Alaska trip. In any case it has been a good time though it has gone far too quickly.

Taken as we were leaving Ketchikan on our way to Juneau. Every sunset we had was wonderful, but I think this was the best of them all.

We are back home from our Alaska trip and though I've only begun to sort through about three thousand photos, I thought I'd post one of the earlier shots. This was taken as we left on the Alaska Ferry from Ketchikan for Juneau. It was taken at about 10:00 at night, the sun not yet set.
Our ferry trip was a bit of a disaster. We were four hours late out of Bellingham, six out of Ketchikan and eight out of Juneau and we sailed directly from Juneau to Whittier missing several stops and having the additional trip to Kodiak by ferry cancelled, all due to mechanical problems.
We had to make other arrangements but did enjoy the ferry ride, at least the part of it we experienced and had a very wonderful time touring southeastern Alaska. We saw so much beautiful scenery and so much wildlife! It is, however, good to be home again, too, though we both want to go back.
