Known as Fuller's Teasels these are an invasive plant in our area, but it is difficult not to love their beautiful seed heads. These were photographed on a frosty morning near Clear Lake and not far from our home.

My attitude toward Teasels is a bit ambivalent. They are not a native plant and are very difficult to control (we have trouble keeping them out of our yard) but the seed heads are very beautiful both in flower and when dried. These were photographed on a frosty morning down by our lake.

Beautiful both in flower and when dead and dried these Teasel seed heads are nevertheless paart of an invasive and troublesome plant. We photographed them on a frosty morning near Clear Lake and just across the road from our home.

This is Scotch Thistle, an invasive and troublesome plant here. There are areas of our yard where the grandchildren cannot play because of it and my wife has spent a great deal of time trying to eradicate it.

These are considered an invasive and noxious weed in the USA , but they certainly are beautiful and the Goldfinches love the seeds in the winter. We try to keep them out of the yard since they are very prickly but they grow in the wild area next to the yard and we leave them there along with the flowers in the background, another noxious weed called Spotted Knapweed.

I have been trying for weeks to get a photo of a head of dandelion seeds that was a bit different and that showed their ethereal character. I don't know if this has succeeded, but it is the only shot with which I was at all happy.
