Fritillaria affinis, the checker Lily, is native to the Pacific Northwest and a highly variable species. It is also sometimes referred to at Mission Bells. These were just opening in Washington Park on Fidalgo Island when we saw them a few weeks ago.

This was photographed earlier in the spring in Washington Park on Fidalgo Island. For some reason there were not many of them this year even though some years they seem to be everywhere.
