This was taken near Warm Springs Camp in Death Valley and appears to be an area where there were buildings for the storage of equipment. Nothing is left now but some concrete slabs.

This the now abandoned White Point talc mine at Warm Springs in Death Valley. It was last owned by the Pfizer Corporation and was worked into the 1990's when the National Park obtained the property. The photo is taken through the gate that now prevents access to the mine.

This is the sign at the now abandoned talc mine near Warm Springs in Death Valley, an area full of old mines. The mine was closed but we explored the surrounding area for the better park of a day. The sign reads: "White Point Mine - Pfizer Inc. - Danger - Mining Equipment - No Trespassing". Though not the original owners, the mine was owned by Pfizer from the 1980's to the 1990's when the National Park Service finally obtained the property.

Just beyond Warm Springs Camp there was some old mining equipment including this old ore crusher and on the other side of the camp was an abandoned talc mine (see insets). We spent the fifth day of our Death Valley trip exploring the camp and the surrounding area.

Warm Springs Camp

Warm Springs Camp is fifteen miles off the main road in the southwestern part of Death Valley. Now derelict it was a luxury mining camp established to house the miners at nearby talc and gold mines. As the insets show, it even had a swimming pool fed by the warm springs above the camp. We spent a good part of the fifth day and the night there sleeping in our van which is just visible behind the bushes in front of the camp buildings. We did not sleep in the buildings which were filthy, nor did we use the swimming pool which had very little water in it and that filthy, but we did use the warm springs to bathe and wash some clothes. More information on the camp is available here, a very interesting story: deathvalleyjim.com/warm-springs-camp-death-valley-national-park .
