This wild rose is, I think, Rosa Woodsii, the Wood Rose. It was photographed along the trails above Maroon Lake in the Colorado Rockies.

I have a great deal of trouble telling wild roses apart, though that is probably my lack of attention to details. I believe this to be the Nootka Rose, Rosa nutkana, photographed in Deception Pass State Park near the coast. I did not notice the hair in the photo, likely a human hair, until I saw the photo on my computer, but even if I had noticed it I probably would not have removed it.

I believe this is the Sweetbriar Rose, Rosa eglanteria, a European native that has naturalized in low elevation areas in the western part of our state. It was photographed near Cranberry Lake in Deception Pass State Park.
