Photographed in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park along the Hellhole Canyon trail, the cacti are Southwestern Barrel Cactus and the Ocotillo in front of them is a very young plant (they grow to be about fifteen feet tall). The smaller sunlit plant at the base of the cacti is a young Brittlebush.

This is a view back down Warm Springs Canyon in Death Valley, taken as we traveled up into the canyon on the fifth day of our stay in DVNP. The flowers in the photo are Brittlebush, Encelia farinosa.

Traveling up the Warm Springs Canyon Road in Death Valley on the fifth day of our stay in the park we saw more wildflowers than anywhere else in the park. This is the ubiquitous Brittlebush, photographed at one of our stops along the road.

Photographed along the trail to Darwin Falls, this, I believe is the Brittlebush, Encelia farinosa. It was one of the few wildflowers we found in Death Valley. There at the very beginning of March we were a bit early for most of them.
