Also known as the Carolina Duck, this bird is the most beautiful of all North American ducks. This male was photographed at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, but is fairly common in our area.

The Wood Duck is considered to be the most beautiful North American duck. It's scientific name is Aix sponsa and it is also known as the Carolina Duck. It is closely related to the Mandarin Duck.
