The photo taken from Esplanade Drive in Singapore, this is the Artscience Building, known for its resemblance to a lotus flower.

This Merlion, the official mascot of Singapore, stands in Merlion Park along the waterfront. The photo was taken on a 2011 trip to Singapore and Malaysia.

We saw so many new birds in Australia that we weren't able to keep up with trying to identify them. With the new lens I purchased just before leaving for Australia I was able to get some decent photos of them, too. This is the Masked Lapwing or Spur-winged Plover, a very common bird, photographed in this case from the esplanade in Cairns.

This is the Singapore Opera House on the Esplanade in downtown Singapore. It has been named "the Durian" for its shape, so like the "king of fruits," and though often criticized seems to be a building of which the Singaporeans are very proud. We thought it was beautiful. The photo was taken at a high ISO and the camera was handheld and braced on a railing, so it is not as sharp as it could be, nor is it free from "noise" but it was the best I could do under the circumstances, and is a nice reminder of our time in the beautiful island city of Singapore.

The picture shows the lotus-shaped entrance building to the Art-Science Museum, the Marina Bay Sands Casino, as well as the rising moon. The photo was taken by my wife, who as usual, got better pictures than I did.
