In Explore December 25, 2009, #166. This Peruvian species is a high-altitude, cool-growing orchid. The flowers are relatively small, but the vivid coloring makes up for the size.

This is a select clone of a Peruvian species from high in the Andes.

I've been trying some creative orchid photography using different lighting and angles. The three pictures I've posted were taken using a small penlight to highlight the flowers. In this picture I also used a shallow depth of field to bring out the little red hairs on the edges of the flower.
