RHH's photos with the keyword: whatcom falls

Located on the east side of Bellingham in Whatcom Falls Park, these lovely falls are only one of several cascades in the area. Whatcom Creek is also spanned here by a beautiful old sandstone bridge, visible in the picture and the park is laced with trails and also includes a fish hatchery.

Whatcom Falls is in a park in Bellingham, the next town south of where we live. While our daughter and son-in-law were here we decided that because the day was overcast we would try to get some time exposures of the falls, giving him the opportunity to practice with his new Nikon. By the time we arrived, however, the sun was out, making it much more difficult to get good time exposures. This was the best I was able to do. Because of the extreme contrast I lightened the shadows and darkened the highlights and increased the saturation very slightly. I also removed one badly blown highlight on the left side of the falls and very slightly cropped the photo at the top and on one side.

Whatcom Falls is in the city of Bellingham and is the site of a former hydroelectic plant. Now part of a city park the area is perfect for walking, relaxing and photography.
