Every year we visit the Skagit Valley to see the Snow Geese and Trumpeter Swans which winter in the area, as well as the fields of the tulip and daffodil growers. These Trumpeters were photographed there with the top of Mount Olympus in the background.

An unregistered but very beautiful Paphiopedilum (slipper orchid) hybrid photographed at the Mount Baker Orchid Society show in Mount Vernon, Washington.
I have so many pictures that I am going to start uploading several a day and hope I can keep up with the commenting. Please do not feel that you have to comment on all of them.

I am not going to bore everyone with endless pictures of this display. Here is one more and the last, a picture of the display case from a different angle with another one of the displays behind it.

Mount Baker Orchid Society Show

The MBOS had its annual show March 9th at Skagit Valley Gardens in Mount Vernon. it is a very small show with only six displays and three or four vendors, but is always well attended because it the first show of the year in the area.
This is the display of miniature orchids I put in, as I've done for the past couple of years. The case is purpose built for shows and though it was on a table at this show it can also be used, with a set of legs, as a free-standing display.
The display sets up and breaks down in a minimum of time and the plants are displayed on a faux lava cliff made of styrofoam which has areas cut out both for potted and for hanging plants, in this case a total of about 35 plants.
The display won the American Orchid Society's Show Trophy as well as a Silver Certificate from the AOS. Two of the plants won trophies as well for best miniature and best pleurothallid, so it was a very good show for me.
There are more pictures of the display, some close-ups of plants in the display and pictures of others' plants that were entered in the show at the link below.
