Port Angeles lies on the north coast of the Olympic Peninsula and is the gateway to Olympic National Park. The road to Hurricane Ridge starts in Port Angeles as does the road to Deer Park. Like wise the road to western side of the park runs through Port Angeles before traversing the north and west sides of the park. This photo was taken in Port Angeles near the harbor while on a trip to the national park last summer.

Prince William Sound

The town of Whittier is at the upper end of Prince William Sound and is the ferry port for Anchorage, which is about 90 miles north. Our trip ran into a number of scheduling difficulties and we ended up in Whittier with a whole day ahead of us while waiting for the train to Anchorage. We used the time to hike to Portage Pass and its views of Portage Lake and Glacier. This photo was taken near the beginning of that hike. The town of Whittier is a round the corner to the right and the cruise ship is not the ferry we took to Whittier but was docked in Whittier for some hours before going on to destinations unknown to us.
