This is another detail shot from one of the totem poles in Stanley Park. The figures represent as grizzly bear and a man. It is Ga'akstalas and was carved by Wayne Alfred and Beau Dick in 1991 and depicts various legendary creatures from Kwakwaka-wakw culture.

This is the top of one of the totem poles in Stanley Park, Vancouver. This is part of a pole carved by Kwakwaka'wakw artist Oscar Maltipi in 1968. The Thunderbird is a familiar figure at the top of many of these poles.

This is the top of one of the totem poles on permanent display in Stanley Park, Vancouver. It is part the Beaver Crest pole carved in 1987 by Nisga'ah artist, Norman Tait, and other members of his family.

At the upper end of Stanley Park, Brockton Point, there are a number of totem poles carved by First Nations artists and representing those nations. They are the most visited site in British Columbia. This is one of them, photographed against the background of Grouse Mountain, north of Vancouver.
