This Bald Eagle was photographed in Millennium Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It had a nest in the same tree in which it was perched.

A favorite spot for eagle watching in northwest Washington in late winter and early spring is along the Mosquito Lake Road where it crosses the Nooksack River. The eagle gather there to feed on the carcasses of the salmon that have spawned and died.

There have been an extraordinary number of eagles around this winter and right after the first of the year we went to the North Fork of the Nooksack River to do some eagle watching. The eagles there had been feeding on the dead salmon along the river. I had same problems getting my long lens to work on my camera and so did not get as many pictures as I had hoped and most of the eagle were roosting in the trees on the other side of the river, but I did get a few reasonably good shots.

Taken in the Skagit Valley while visiting the tulip and daffodil fields of the bulb growers. We were fortunate to see and photograph this eagle. There have been many of them around but I've not been able to get any good photos.

This is another photo of an immature Bald Eagle, though it is very close to maturity. When young they have neither the white head nor white tail of the mature birds. These begin to develop at about two years and the birds are fully mature at 4-5 years.

This is an immature Bald Eagle, though he is very near maturity. Until two years old these birds do not have the white head and tail of the mature birds and are actually larger than the mature birds. This bird was photographed on Whidbey Island searching for rodents in a field that was being hayed.

On a recent school camping trip we were camped on a bluff in Fort Ebey State Park and this eagle flew by below us. They are not uncommon in our area but we are always delighted to see them.

This bird is native to southeast Asia and we saw it hunting in the straits between Singapore and Malaysia, but this bird was photographed in the Jurong Bird Park in Singapore and was part of the raptor show there, a utterly fascinating and well-presented show.
I am not particularly impressed with this photo, by the way. It has quite a bit of noise, had to be cropped, and still leaves something to be desired. It was hard getting decent photos, though, since everything moved so quickly and the lighting was also very difficult.
