While backpacking with our oldest daughter along the Thunder Creek trail, we hiked about nine miles before setting up camp and then after our evening meal hiked on for several more miles before returning to camp. We found our dessert along those last few miles, ripe huckleberries and we spent more time eating them than hiking. This is probably the Cascade Huckleberry, Vaccinum deliciosum.

Taken along one of the trails at along Padden Ridge in Lake Padden Park. The trees are mostly Western Red Cedar with an understory of Sea Grape, Huckleberry, Elderberry, Vine Maple, Sword Fern and other plants.

Taken early last spring in Wallace Falls State Park in the North Cascades. This has been identified as Red Huckleberry, Vaccinium parvifolium by Fizgig. Thanks! ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2012/04/wallace-fal...
