This was the Smith River the morning we left Jedediah Smith State Park and headed north for the California-Oregon border. We had been looking for a footbridge across the river but finally discovered that it was not in place.

After driving through the night we followed the Redwood Highway into northern California. The weather was cloudy with periods of rain and so we did not stop often for photos. This, in fact, was our first photo stop, a turn-off along the Smith River just north of Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.

Smith River is in northern California and this photo was taken along the Redwoods Highway which follows the Smith River.
