Also known as the Great Purple Monkeyflower, this is one of the wildflowers we photographed in Dunraven Pass north of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and on the northeast side of the park.

Also known as Linum perenne var. lewisii, this is the western version of Perennial Flax, a fairly common garden flower. We photographed this example in Colville National Forest while hiking there.

There were not many wildflowers still blooming when we did the Railroad Grade trail on September 2, but we did find these Great Purple Monkeyflowers or Lewis' Monkeyflowers, Erythranthe lewisii, in a damp area.

Mimulus lewisii is common in the Cascades, but very few were still blooming when we hiked the Twin Lakes area.
