Also known as Masdevallia dynastes, this odd little species is from Ecuador. The flowers are 2 cm from end to end and the plant 10 cm tall. It belongs to a group of orchids, found in Central and South America, collectively known as Pleurothallids.

Also known as Masdevallia dynastes this odd species is from Ecuador and is another high-altitude, cool temperature orchid. These flowers are around 2 centimeters in size and the plant quite small also.

Number 7 in my 100x: 2014 project. This is an orchid named Masdevallia dynastes or Buccella dynastes. It is from Ecuador and is a small plant, like most of the plants I grow. There are more photos of the flowers and of the plant at the link below.

I am done with pictures from the Chihuly Graden and Glass Exhibition (some of you are probably breathing a sign of relief) and hope now to post some pictures of the miniature orchids I grow including pictures of some of the plants in flower. Here, then, is Buccella molossoides, formerly Masdevallia molossoides, from Ecuador. It is tiny plant with flowers only slightly over a centimeter in size. My plant was a awarded a Certificate of Horticultural Merit at the Northwest Orchid Society Show in April. More pictures and information here: orchidsinbloom-ron.blogspot.com/2012/04/bucella-molossoid... .

Bucella dynastes, also known as Masdevallia dynastes, is from Ecuador. It is one of the smaller "Masdevallias," four inches tall with half inch flowers on spikes that hold the flowers just above the leaves. It is reputed to be somewhat tolerant of warmer temperatures, but my plant is grown cool. orchidsinbloom-ron.blogspot.com/2012/09/buccella-dynastes...
