Partridgefoot (Luetkea pectinata)

Photographed on the Lillian Ridge Trail in Olympic National Park, Washington. The common name refers to the fancied resemblance between the flower with its stamens and the feathery foot of a partridge. The picture below is of the unopened flowers.

This was one of the few wildflowers still blooming when we hiked the Cascade Pass trail. Its scientific name is Luetkea pectinata and it is in the rose family. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2012/09/cascade-pas...
