Cape Flattery was seen and named by Captain James Cook in 1778 and is the westernmost part of the contiguous United States and at the northwestern extremity of the Olympic Peninsula.. A short trail leads from the road to several viewpoints, but is rather remote.

We had planned on traveling to the Olympic Peninsula yesterday and today, but due to busyness, the price of petrol and general malaise, decided not to go. I am posting these photos of Ruby Beach on the west side of the peninsula instead.

In 2020 we visited the Olympic Peninsula for a few days and managed to see a good part of the national park, to do some hiking and to get away for a few days. This is Ruby Beach on the west side of the peninsula. We walked the beach and watched the sunset there one evening.
