This shot was taken last April from Bowman Beach and looks out over Bowman Bay, the Straits of San Juan to the Olympic Mountains.

This is the view north from Sares Head on Fidalgo Isalnd. The bluffs can be hiked from this point to the northern edge of the park and are noted for their beautiful old Madrone trees.

This is the view north from the Montgomery-Duban Headlands and Sares Head with its bluffs and granite balds. Sares Head is the destination of most hikers in Sharpe Park, though there is much more to see and enjoy. The islands are some of the San Juan Islands, with Allan Island and the Williamson Rocks the nearest. The water is the Strait of San Juan de Fuca and that part of it known as Rosario Strait.

Rosario Beach is in the area of Deception Pass, the waterway that separates Fidalgo and Whidbey Islands. We were there to photograph the Grass Widows (see previous photo) and went on from Pass Island to Rosario Beach where we investigated the tide pools before heading back home. The light was changing and the day was becoming more and more overcast when this photo was taken.

This is the beach along Deception Pass, the narrow channel separating Whidbey Island from Fidalgo Island. The view looks west from the pass out into Rosario Strait.
