This is Mediocalcar versteegii from New Guinea. Like the other species in the genus it has flowers with unusual color combinations and is a rambling plant, each new growth coming from the top of the previous growth. It blooms late winter to early spring and the flowers are not long-lasting. I have my plant in a pot, but most of it is not in the pot and doesn't need to be. There is a picture of the plant with its flowers in the inset.

This very unusual orchid species is from Papua New Guinea. It belong to a small genus of about twenty species, mostly from the cloud forests and most with brightly colored flowers. The individual growths, one of which is shown here, are 2-3 inches but grow on top of each other in a rambling fashion. orchidsinbloom-ron.blogspot.com/2013/01/mediocalcar-verst...

This is the plant whose flowers are shown below. As I noted in that post, the plant tends to ramble all over and is impossible to confine to a pot. It is from New Guinea and prefers cool temperatures and good humidity. orchidsinbloom-ron.blogspot.com/2013/01/mediocalcar-verst...
