Also known as Canadian Lousewort, Pedicularis canadensis is a common but unusual wildflower in the Pacific Northwest. This example was photographed near Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park. We are near Rainier at the moment, spending a couple days skiing at Crystal Mountain.

The Elephant's Head Lousewort, Pedicularis groenlandica, is one of our more unusual wildflowers. This was photographed near Edmonton and if you look closely, you can see a white Crab Spider among the flowers waiting for prey. The reason for the common name is obvious and I've posted it not only to show it off, but to show that I do photograph flowers other than orchids.

The Elephant's Head Lousewort, Pedicularis groenlandica, is one of our more unusual wildflowers, and the reason for its common name is immediately obvious. We found these in boggy areas along the road to Lake Elizabeth and in an area on the east side of the lake that is constantly wet with springs. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2010/08/lake-elizab...
