After wandering the beach north of Cape Kiwanda we drove to the south side of the cape and to the beach at Pacific City where we watch the surf, the fishing dories coming in and the Pelicans fishing. The dories are launched from and come back in to the beach. Coming in they land at very high speed and run up on the sand. This one was coming in near the cape itself. These fishing dories have a long history at Pacific City. Most of them are now run as charters, but originally they were the city's fishing fleet and livelihood.

Leaving the beach on the north side of Cape Kiwanda, we drove around the cape to Pacific City and the beach there where we watched the fishing dories coming in and the Pelicans fishing.
