Photographed in the tide pools along the Oregon coast on the third day of our trip down the coast.

The American Herring Gull or Smithsonian Gull is considered to be a subspecies of the European Herring Gull. This one was photographed at Boiler Bay along the Oregon coast as we made our way south to Yaquina Head.

This was taken at Larrabee State Park in Northwest Washington. The evening was so quiet even the gulls seemed to feel it and allowed me to come within a few feet of them and take several photos without a telephoto lens.

This is one I've been wanting to post for a while. It was taken in Maritime Heritage Park in Bellingham, Washington. We were photographing a heron there and this young gull came flying through.
