This was taken as we waited for moonset in Holland State Park on Lake Michigan. The lighthouse is known as Big Red but the green color comes from the light on the north pier across the channel (see inset photo). We did not actually see moonset because they closed the park and the moon had gone behind the clouds on the horizon.

This is the north light and north pier along the channel that connects Lake Michigan with Lake Macatawa in Holland State Park in Michigan. We were there to photograph the sunset and the moonset with the larger lighthouse on the south pier.

This is where I was Thursday evening. A friend and I went out to photograph the sunset and the setting moon in Holland State Park on Lake Michigan. We were on the north side of the channel that connects Lake Michigan to Lake Macatawa and the lighthouse on the south side of the channel, known as Big Red, was our main subject. So this is Big Red with the crescent moon still high in the sky, the sunset still with a good amount of color and several boats coming into the channel.

The photo taken from Esplanade Drive in Singapore, this is the Artscience Building, known for its resemblance to a lotus flower.

Taken along the way as I snowshoed up to Artist's Point last Saturday. Actually the moon did not set until after I was back down at the car, several hours later, but I didn't know what else to call this.

This is the Art Science Museum on the Singapore waterfront. The design of the building is inspired by the lotus flower. This picture was taken on an evening walk along the waterfront when the moon was rising. The photo was handheld (actually the camera was braced on a handrail) since we had been to dinner with friends and I did not have a tripod with me. It was shot at ISO4000, and is a bit grainy, but that was the only way to get the shot.

Photographed along the Singapore Waterfront at Marina Bay. The picture shows the lotus-shaped entrance building to the Art-Science Museum, the Marina Bay Sands Casino, which was putting on a laser light show at the time this photo was taken, as well as the rising moon. The photo was taken by my wife, who as usual, got better pictures than I did.

In Explore March 21, 2012, #388. These are adult Moon Jellies, Aurelia labiata, photographed at the Vancouver Aquarium. This aquarium has the best display of Jellyfish that I have seen anywhere. The sun was already up, and we were well along on our hike to the top of Winchester Mountain, but the moon was late in setting and I managed to get this half-way decent picture over the ridge ahead of us.
