Tim and I were on our way to hike at Austin Pass near Mount Baker when this photo was taken. We stopped the car along the road in roder to get photos of the sunrise through the trees.

This is the entrance to the restored neolithic tomb at Newgrange, Co. Meath. At sunrise on the winter solstice, the rising sun shines for a few moment through the hole above the doorway into the heart of the tomb. The white stone on the facade of the tomb also catches the sunlight and makes the front of the tomb visible for miles.

I have been trying for weeks to get a photo of a head of dandelion seeds that was a bit different and that showed their ethereal character. I don't know if this has succeeded, but it is the only shot with which I was at all happy.

Glasshouse and Sun

This is where we went today to celebrate our anniversary, Chihuly Garden and Glass, a long-term exhibition by artist Dale Chihuly at the Seattle Center and in the shadow of the Space Needle. It is a must-see for anyone visiting Seattle and both the indoor exhibits and the outdoor garden were beyond description. This photo shows the centerpiece of the exhibition, the Glasshouse with its hanging sculptures and the outdoor piece simply named "Sun." We spent five hours at the exhibit and could have spent many more, in fact, would have liked to have seen the outdoor exhibits at night when lighted. We took hundreds of pictures (picture taking is encouraged by the exhibition) and it was hard to decide which picture to post. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2012/07/chihuly-gar...

The ridge in the distance is Pleiades Overlook and the photo was taken from the High Pass trail on the shoulder of Winchester Mountain. Our trail ended on the lower ridge at the knob just to the right of the tree line in the foreground. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2012/10/hiking-in-t... ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2012/10/hiking-in-t...
