RHH's photos with the keyword: deer park

These trees are near the Deer Park Campground in a remote area of Olympic National Park. A fire there, started by an illegal campfire at a time when fire danger was very high, burned about 250 acres. These trees are left from the fire and will last for many more years, since a fire like this will often leave the trees dead but nearly impervious to rot. The Deer Park Road is long, single vehicle, dirt road on the northeast end of Olympic National Park. The drive is worthwhile, however, for its fabulous views of the mountains. This view was taken from the campground at Deer Park, but the road continues on for several miles to the top of Blue Mountain.

On the second day of last summer's trip to the Olympics we followed the Deer Park Road up to the top of Blue Mountain. This photo was taken from the Deer Park campground.
