This bit of humor was at the start of the Hellhole Canyon trail in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. It says "They Didn't Bring Enough Water," an essential for hiking in the desert.
Sotol Vista Sign

This was the sign at Sotol Vista in Big Bend National Park. It gives some interesting information about the Sotol plant, identifies the peaks in the distance and explains the view.

We drove through Mount Robson Provincial Park on our way to Edmonton and returned the next week for five days of backpacking in the Park, one of the most fabulous backpacking trips we've been on. There'll be more pictures from that trip to follow.

Monte Cristo Lodge Sign

Mining activity ceased at Monte Cristo around the turn of the century, but the place continued to be maintained as a tourist destination until the 1980's. This was the sign from the lodge that burned to the ground in 1983, but which had been cut off in 1980 by flooding in the area that washed out parts of the road and the Twin Bridges that crossed the river.
