Dendrobium vexillarius is a small high-altitude species from New Guinea. It belongs to the Oxyglossum section of the genus Dendrobium, all of which have similarly-shaped flowers but in a rainbow of bright colors. In most cases with the flowers in this section the flowers are extremely long lasting, some lasting up to a year.

Dendrobium vexillarius is an orchid species from Papua New Guinea. These unusually colored flowers are over an inch (3cm) and last for many months. It grows at high altitudes in the mountains and loves cool temperatures and high light. This is number 16 in my 100x: 2014 project.

This is another species from Papua New Guinea belonging to the Oxyglossum group of Dendrobiums. It is very variable in color and plant size, so I had no idea what color I would see when this bloomed.
